Ingredients

    For the caramel:

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Crown Royal Corn Syrup
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3 large apples, peeled & sliced
  • For the cake

  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Fleischmann’s Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Fleischmann’s Baking Soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

    For the caramel:

  1. To a skillet over medium heat melt together butter, sugar, corn syrup & salt until mixture begins to bubble.
  2. Pour mixture into an 9-inch round cake pan. Arrange the sliced apples over the caramel in a spiral pattern. Set aside as you prepare the cake.
  3. For the cake:

  4. To a large mixing bowl whisk together butter, sugars, egg & vanilla until well combined.
  5. Sift in flour, baking powder, baking soda & salt.
  6. Slowly add the milk as you stir in the dry ingredients. Continue stirring until batter is smooth.
  7. Pour batter over the sliced apples.
  8. Bake at 350(f) degrees for 30 to 35 minutes, until the top bounces back to touch.
  9. Let cool for 15 minutes before carefully rotating onto a cake plate. Slice & serve!
