Chocolate Fig Pecan Squares

2 cups (500 ml) all-purpose flour
1/4 cup (50 ml) sugar
3/4 cup (175 ml) butter OR margarine, softened
3 eggs
1/2 cup (125 ml) sugar
3/4 cup (175 ml) Beehive® OR Crown® Golden Syrup
2 cups (500 ml) figs, stemmed and chopped
2/3 cup (150 ml) chopped pecans
2/3 cup (150 ml) CHIPITS® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips


Crust: Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Spray a 13″ x 9″ (33 cm x 23 cm) cake pan with cooking spray. Combine all ingredients for crust in a large bow., mixing until crumbly. Press firmly into greased pan. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until light golden.

Topping: Beat eggs, sugar, and corn syrup together until blended. Stir in figs, pecans and chocolate chips. Pour evenly over crust. Bake 20 to 25 minutes longer, or until set and golden. Cool; cut into squares.
